Macassar

Macassar can deliver excellent conditions, and is renowned amongst the Stellenbosch boardsailors for its strong wind and large waves. It works best in South Easterly to Easterly winds. The wind here is much less gusty than at the Strand, and often pumps through at 30 to 40 knots. There is no protection from the Cape Peninsula, or the eastern side of False Bay, so the Atlantic Swell breaks directly onto the beach, which means bigger waves.
